Jaidutt Saraswati Sodha PSSI Plasma Award

Prof. Mahendra Singh Sodha, popularly known as Prof. M. S. Sodha, is an Indian physicist specialising in Plasma, Optics and Energy. He was the former Vice Chancellor of Lucknow University, Devi Ahilya University as well as Barkatullah University and he has instituted this award from 2021 for exemplary research work carried out in the area of plasma physics.

The idea of this award is to recognize Indian scientists who have made significant research contributions in plasma physics (ranging from fundamental phenomena to novel applications, thermonuclear fusions etc.). 

Elligibility : Indian Scientists, below the age of 50 years (as on 1-January of the year of award), who have made significant research contributions through publications in reputed journals in plasma physics (ranging from fundamental phenomena to novel applications, thermonuclear fusions etc.).

Prize : A cash prize of Rs 10,000/- and a citation will be presented during the National Symposium on Plasma Science & Technology organized by PSSI. The winner of the award will be required to make a 25 minute presentation regarding his/her work for which the award was presented.

How to Apply ? The applicant should send his/her (1) Curriculum Vitae (2) Complete list of publications and (3) h-index citation by email to PSSI <pssi@ipr.res.in> on or before before 15-Nov-202x. "Sodha Award 202x" should be mentioned as the subject in the mail so that your email is not missed.

Selection process: Nominations received by PSSI from potential candidates will be scrutinized by a committee consisting of members from PSSI executive council as well as external experts in the areas of plasma physics.
